Quiet experiences around Ebner 1822

Not every holiday needs a major destination. Sometimes a path through the forest, a quiet spot by the water, or a view that makes you stay longer than planned is enough. Around Ebner 1822 lie the Nock Mountains, clear Carinthian lakes and many places that can be discovered without any rush.

Very close

Some things begin right outside the house

For special moments at Ebner 1822, you don’t need to get in the car. Many of our favourite spots are right in the courtyard or just a few steps away. They aren’t items on a schedule, but invitations to let the day slow down a little.

Natural pond & lawn for sunbathing

A few quiet minutes on the jetty in the morning, later a cooling dip in the water or an afternoon on the lounger: the natural pond is one of those places where time quickly loses its meaning.

Literature Square

A book, a sweeping view all the way to the Karawanks and fresh spring water in the trough. Anyone who wants to can bring a picnic and stay until the light over the meadows softens.

Forest bathing area

Among trees, moss and the sound of a rushing stream lies a quiet place to sit, take a breath and listen. Without guidance and without a set routine – simply whenever the mood takes you.

Take Paula for a walk

Our farm dog Paula probably knows the paths around Ebner 1822 better than we do. If time permits, guests are welcome to join us on a peaceful morning walk.

Farm life & animals

Chickens, sheep, cow and calf are all part of everyday life on the farm. Farm life is not staged as a programme here – it is simply there and you are welcome to experience it first-hand.

A drive with history

Our Porsche tractor from 1957 is a piece of farm history on four wheels. Whenever possible, we are happy to take our guests along for a short drive.

Walking and hiking trails around the farm

Right at Ebner 1822, trails begin through meadows and forests, along minor roads and down into the Gurktal valley. Some are suitable for a short morning walk, others for a longer day out. You don't have to search for long – we are happy to show you which path suits the weather, the time available and your fitness level.

Quick games for a quick break

For the first coffee afterwards, an evening stroll or a quiet walk with the dog, there are several options right around the farm.

Longer journeys through the Gurktal

Those with more time can combine forest paths, meadows and small villages into an extended circular route. Along the way, views continuously open up over the upper Gurktal valley and across to the Nockberge mountains.

Well prepared: In every nature holiday home, maps of walking and hiking trails around the farm are readily available. Barbara and Mario are also happy to give personal recommendations – including for trails suitable for dogs or for a short loop when the weather is changeable.
Vastness & mountain air

Experience the Nockberge mountains consciously

The Carinthian Nockberge are not rugged mountains that want to be conquered. Their gentle summits, alpine pastures and sparse forests invite you to go on hikes where the peak is not the only thing that counts.

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Nockberge

Rounded summits, old Swiss stone pine forests and managed alpine pastures characterise this special cultural landscape. There is a choice of easy panoramic trails as well as longer mountain tours.

Slow Trails

The Slow Trails combine gentle exercise with peace, water and beautiful views. They are particularly suited to days when the journey can be more important than the kilometres covered.

Tiebel Springs

Near Himmelberg, the Tiebel bubbles out of the ground in numerous places. An easy path leads along the water to this quiet natural spectacle.

Carinthian lakes – from warm to refreshing

Depending on your mood, it could be a warm bathing lake, a tranquil mountain lake or simply the natural pond right outside the front door. Some of the most beautiful lakes in Carinthia can easily be visited on a day trip from Ebner 1822.

Lake Ossiach

A classic Carinthian bathing lake for swimming, a boat trip or a long afternoon by the water. Around the lake there are lively as well as quieter spots.

Lake Millstätter See

Mountains and water are particularly close together here. The lake is just as well suited for a day of swimming as it is for walks along the shore and a leisurely drive through the villages all around.

Lake Turrach

At 1,763 metres, the air is cooler and the water noticeably fresher. The circular trail around the lake and the surrounding mountain landscape make the Turracher Höhe a lovely destination on warm summer days.

Culture, warmth and quiet discoveries

A rainy day doesn't need to be filled. It is often particularly cosy in the timber house. Those who still want to venture outside will find culture, craft and soothing warmth in the surrounding area.

Gurk Cathedral

One of the most significant Romanesque sacred buildings in Europe is situated in the Gurktal. Particularly impressive are the hundred pillars of the crypt and the centuries-old history surrounding Saint Hemma.

Thermal Römerbad

Warm thermal water, saunas and the mountain views make the Römerbad in Bad Kleinkirchheim a pleasant addition on cool or wet days.

Log fire, panoramic bathtub, hydrosoft cabin and a good book: sometimes the best tip for bad weather is not to set off at all.

You do not need to have seen everything. Often a single good path, a quiet spot and the certainty of returning to your own nature house in the evening are quite enough. Barbara and Mario are happy to help you find just the right thing for your day on holiday.
